Our naturist beaches

A holiday at the CHM means enjoying the pleasures of the beach and the benefits of fresh sea air. With its two direct accesses, the CHM offers you two kilometres of exceptional naturist beach on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The hundred or so bicycles parked there will let you know that you’ve arrived safely.

The very first naturist beach

The CHM Montalivet beach is much more than just a place to swim: it’s a symbol of naturism in France. Here, nudity is compulsory by municipal decree, guaranteeing an authentic space that respects naturist values. Over several kilometres of fine sand, everyone is free to enjoy the ocean, in a natural and friendly setting.

P1 or P2 ?

At the CHM, there are two beach access points for you to choose from.

Beach 1 Lifeguard Supervision 2026:
– every weekend and bank holiday in May: 12pm-7pm
– from June 6 to June 26: every day, 12pm-7pm
– from June 27 to August 30: every day, 11am-7pm
– from August 31 to September 13: every day, 11:30am-6:30pm

Beach 2 Lifeguard Supervision 2026:
– from July 4 to August 30: every day, from 11am-7pm

Rip currents (baïnes)

Common along our Atlantic coast, baïnes are natural pools formed in the sand between the shore and the open sea. The term actually comes from the Gascon word baina, meaning “small bath.”

At low tide, they look like calm and reassuring waters with almost no waves. However, be careful: behind this apparent tranquility lies a natural hazard. As the tide changes, the trapped water rushes out toward the ocean, creating a strong pulling current. If caught in one: do not panic, do not fight the current, and signal for help to people on the beach.

Our advice: swim between the flags and follow the lifeguard station hours.

Activities for everyone on the sand

As well as relaxing and swimming, the beach is a real playground. Take part in the great CHM classics: the legendary Koh Monta, sandcastle competitions for the younger ones, beach volleyball and beach hand tournaments and competitions organised by the lifeguards. There’s plenty to keep you busy all day by the ocean, in a friendly, festive atmosphere.

Nudity at the heart of the CHM spirit

At the CHM, nudity is not an option, it’s the rule, weather permitting. More than just a tradition, it’s a shared commitment that preserves the authenticity and values of the site. If you prefer to stay in a swimming costume, other places are more suitable. Here, everyone makes an effort to respect this spirit, so that the CHM remains the naturist haven that has always been so dear to its visitors.
