Naturism : : there is always a first time
Those who practise it will tell you, to try naturism is to adopt it. Whether it’s to reconnect with the elements, free yourself from your convictions or feel free, naturism allows you to reconnect with yourself.
The history of naturism
The term ‘naturism’ has its roots in the 18ᵉ century when it was mentioned by several authors including Théophile de Bordeu, a vitalist physician. His writings were based in particular on the work of Hippocrates, according to whom nature and health are intimately linked. In fact, this is the very basis of naturism: living in harmony with nature to feel good in body and mind. Stripping off your clothes doesn’t just mean taking off your clothes, it also means removing all social constraints. Naturists have the chance to connect with nature without any judgement from others, while remaining constantly accepting of others.
Over the years, naturism has gradually spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Its values of freedom, equality and tolerance have now attracted several million followers. With a large number of dedicated areas (beaches, campsites, swimming pools, etc.), France is the number one destination for naturist holidays!
CHM: Europe's leading naturist campsite
Founded in 1950, the CHM (Centre Hélio-Marin) was one of the first naturist holiday villages in France. Its success has helped to democratise naturism in France! Despite the expansion of naturist camping, holidaymakers have never ceased to find a genuine family atmosphere where respect and tolerance are the order of the day. And that’s what the campsite is famous for… Whether you’re a naturist or a novice, the CHM welcomes you with the same kindness and good humour! Parents, children, teenagers, couples, friends… At the CHM, naturism is for everyone.
The holiday programme promises to be a busy one for all the family. When it comes to facilities, the CHM has nothing to complain about. Water park with outdoor pool and slides, indoor pool, activities, entertainment, evening events, restaurants, shops… And beach! Situated by the sea, the campsite has direct access to a huge naturist beach. No need to drive for miles or take the car to take a dip in the ocean.
The rules and customs of naturism
To ensure that everyone lives in harmony and respect for others at the CHM, certain rules and customs specific to naturism must be respected.
When you go on holiday at a naturist campsite, it goes without saying that full nudity is compulsory in most communal areas (swimming pool, beach, water park, etc.) weather permitting. As well as respect and tolerance, which must be omnipresent on the campsite, there are other rules of good conduct, such as taking photographs must be limited to personal and family use. The naturist charter sets out all the rules to be observed at the CHM.
